The Metropolitan

The Metro Console

This console controlled an instrument that the Robert-Morton Organ Company of Van Nuys, California, installed in the Metropolitan Theatre (later the Strand, Hermosa, and finally the Bijou Theatre) in 1923, in Hermosa Beach, California.  It controlled 5 unit ranks which, oddly, did not include a Diapason (Flute, Tibia, Violin, Vox Humana and Trumpet, plus four tuned percussions!).  The organ was later removed to a church in Redondo Beach, and apparently lost its Tibia and Trumpet.  The console was eventually replaced (and finally wound up in my hands), although I believe that the remains of the original Robert-Morton organ still remain in the church.
